by juice Posted on 2019-06-30 (Sunday) Image Poison yourself, why not? View this post on Instagram Better for our health? Better for the environment? In what world?!?!!! 🤦 HEALTH 💪 The Beyond Meat burger contains 21 ingredients… Let's talk about a few. 👇 ⠀ ❌ pea protein – highly processed to isolate protein, usually hexane (derived from petrol) is used. Not a good source of protein as it is low in some amino acids. ⠀ ❌ canola oil and sunflower oil – highly processed, these oils oxidizes as soon as they are heated causing it to be extremely toxic for our health. Also processed with hexane. ⠀ ❌ maltodextrin – highly processed food additive made from GMO corn. It spikes blood sugar more than table sugar does. ENVIRONMENT 🌏 More ingredients = more processing, shipping, cooling, packaging, etc. More, more, more, MORE! Less is better when it comes to the environment. If you're concerned about the CO2 emissions from cattle, you have likely read an exaggerated statistic. According to a report from the Environmental Protection Agency, of the total US greenhouse gas emissions in 2016: ⭐ 3.9% came from animal agriculture ⭐ within that, 2% came from cattles ⭐ 28.5% came from transportation ⭐ 28.4% came from industry Remember all those highly processed ingredients we talked about earlier? That are all likely processed in different places and have to be shipped around? 🤔 ANIMALS 🐁 I wanted to touch on this quickly as well. There are animal deaths no matter what food we are eating, this is unavoidable. Mice, rabbits, lizards, etc. get caught in farming equipment regularly leaving them wounded or dead. Those that survive eventually starve once the crops have been harvested because they are left with no food. It isn't clear to me that eating fake meat results in less deaths, actually the opposite seems more likely to be true. One grass-fed cow (300kg+) could feed one person for close to a year. That is ONE death, vs thousands that would come from regularly consuming wheat, soy and corn. 🌽 Which would you choose? 🍔 #beyondmeat #grassfed #grassfedbeef #yes2meat #carnivorediet #ketodiet #keto #veganketo #lowcarb #highfat #carnivore #animalbaseddiet #realfood #jerf #healthcoachkait A post shared by KAIT 🍳 Low Carb Animal-Based (@healthcoachkait) on Jun 28, 2019 at 1:10pm PDT
