So, I’m starting #carnivore75hard today.
I’ll have a daily post about this – I’ve put a link in the menus, and it will send out a tweet automatically when I post it. I’m also trying to decide how to make it work on IG.
What is #carnivore75hard?
Eat meat, don’t eat carbs, move, be a good person.
Yes, I know you’re thinking I’m going to struggle with the last part of this.
Anyway, here’s a quick explanation of what it is about.
I’ve been on low carb for over a year now (August 2018) and it’s great. Great food, none of the downsides of carb eating, 25kg down. It’s been even better for Cha – she’s down 20kg, and she had a lot less to lose than me. (She’s not doing this, BTW, but it won’t be hard to do this and normal keto.)
But ever since I did that stupid “no-weighing for a month” challenge thing early this year – basically something I did with a friend on the keto forum – I’ve been stuck (I’d been weighing myself every evening). I added weight back on, and now I’m jammed. I had dipped (ever so marginally) under 100kg for a couple of days, but now I’m between 103-106 again, and it’s super annoying.
So now it’s time to change it up again.
TBH, I’m mostly doing it so I can tell myself “Well, they’re the rules!” and hopefully shut the depression up for a while.
So, what can I eat?
Meat. Eggs. Dairy. Salt. Water.
As you can see, not really a big change. No veges, no fat bombs, etc..
When can I eat it?
Inside a six hour window, that must be at least 18 hours from the last time I ate.
Again, not very different. It’ll reduce flexibility a little, but not too much. And it’s not like I don’t know how to fast, so if a meal time where Cha is eating conflicts, I’ll just fast.
We set up an eating plan for the coming week anyway, so there’ll be no surprises.
But it removes things like berries with cream, peanut butter fat bombs, and so on. Can’t be a bad thing, right?
Movement – 30 minutes a day, at least 15 outside. Won’t be a problem at all between the housework and walking to shops, markets, Salvos to look for new funky plates, etc..
Daily gratitudes – three things I’m grateful for. These will be pretty anodyne, TBH. I love things being the same, time after time. Nothing new. Change is bad. As a result, it’s pretty much the same on a macro scale from day to day, so nothing new comes up very often.
A genuine compliment to someone. Again, I work pretty hard to not really see/talk to people that I don’t normally talk to, but I do hand out compliments pretty regularly, so this won’t be an issue. I’ll not say what it was, but just that it got done.
So I’m probably approaching this from the wrong mindset. Well, sorry about that, but my brain is feeling like it’s doing pretty well to hit the baselines here. If people feel like I’m not going about it the right way I might stop saying I’m doing it, or I might just ignore them. Depends. Depression is a bitch, so bad luck.
Anyway – time to start.
