Was it not because physicians know nothing about nutrition that got us into this obesity and diabetes epidemic in the 1st place ? And now in order to start a diet we have to consult with the very people that know nothing about nutrition and then if the advice that those very doctors gives seems inappropriate they prosecute the doctors and tell them not to talk about nutrition because they know nothing about nutrition. The ABC (and plenty of other news outlets) really should know better - this was NOT a "marathon." Yes, it was marathon distance, but it was not a race, and he had VAST human and mechanical help on circular track, FAR out of the ordinary in terms of an actual marathon. Amazing achievement? Sure. I can't run that fast ever, let alone for two hours. But a sub-two-hour marathon? No, it wasn't that. More impressed with everyone who took part in Run Melbourne today, TBH.

A very large study has further confirmed this. This is a comprehensive, unbiased and scientific (not emotional/dogmatic) study. “The magnitude of association between red and processed meat consumption and all-cause mortality and adverse cardiometabolic outcomes is very small, and the evidence is of low certainty” Red meat has NEVER been the problem. It has been the cigarettes, bread, fries, soft drink, alcohol, dessert, potato etc that were eaten WITH the red meat, that were the problem, in previous poorly done studies. Stick with the meat, eggs, seafood and dairy with some green salad/non-starchy veggies, nuts/seeds.
